Things are very quiet at Romney House for now. Very few cats are coming in, but of course we also don't have any boarders. On the up side its been a good excuse to have a big clear-out.

We aren't generally accepting visitors for now in compliance with the lock-down.

Some pictures of the residents today...

Cliff

Cliff

Cliff came from a very crowded multi-cat household of un-neutered cats, all scared of everybody and everything!  Cliff in particular was nervous, the most affected by his past home!  After some months we felt it was kinder for Cliff to be released to live in our...

Ziggy

Ziggy

One of four very poorly little white kittens from a multi-cat household, close to death with cat flu – enteritis – infected eyes.  This little bunch were  so very poorly!  They slowly regained their strength after lots of care, attention and medication. It took one...

Tammy

Tammy

Tammy was rescued from an awful multicat household where she was living feral with 20 other cats with very well meaning people.  But it was all totally out of control.  None were neutered, they were hiding, cold and hungry. Gradually they were bought to us where they...

Salem

Salem

Friend Salem came to us as a very wild few month old cat.  He was placed in isolation where he would go mad climbing the walls if anyone got near.  Very tricky when it came to cleaning out. After some time it was decided to release him into the local population as...

Franco

Franco

Franco was one of four kittens rescued from Ireland.  They had been abandoned with terribly infected eye conditions! The worst we’ve seen! Poor kittens spent 6 weeks with eye lotions, antibiotics, constant cleaning them up.  Already quite nervous, made it more...

Buster

Buster

Buster came from a factory premises.  He was a young feral kitten in a colony of mixed aged cats. Traumatised and scared we managed to trap him and a few of the others and bring him back to Romney House.  He was quite frightened of people as we are fairly sure they...

Summer

Summer

Summer was living amongst 23 other cats in a multi cat household.  They were all kept in an outbuilding in the damp and cold. They were all interbreeding! When Summer first came to us, she went into a cat house with three of her siblings. She went crazy being so...

Roz

Roz

Little Roz was born at stables with her brother Rolo. Their mother was friendly but the kittens were not handled and became feral.  The owners were worried and wanted the kittens to be out of danger and mum safely neutered and re-homed. After several attempts at...

Snow

Snow

Snow’s story is a long one and can best be found on Facebook.  He was rescued in Italy after being found in a terrible state. He had some nasty wounds and being a white cat in a hot country had very bad cancerous ears which had become infected. He had to have...

Bluey

Bluey

Bluey came in to Romney House as a small kitten with his feral mother.  Unfortunately she taught him to be scared of humans.   Mum was released and Bluey came into the house to live with a few other cats sharing a bedroom to see if he could become friendly.  He...

Montina

Montina

Looking at this lovely girl you really would not realise what a hard start in life she had.  First its worth noting that she is totally deaf which is not uncommon for white cats. Montina is actually an Italian rescue cat.  She was rescued by Silvana when she was only...

Pookie

Pookie

Little Pookie was found as a stray after her owner had sadly died.  The family members did not make sure Pookie was looked after and just left her in the house with the occasional bowl of biscuit put down.  No change of litter tray. A neighbour alerted her to us. She...

Rocky

Rocky

Rocky has been resident at Romney House for 12 years!  He came from a multi cat household, as a small sick kitten.  The RSPCA had cleared the cats from a home where owners had been evicted. We are not sure how long the cats had been in the home alone, but they were in...

Jet

Jet

Jet came in as a stray with a badly infected eye.  We spent quite a time trying to treat it, but nothing worked and it seemed kinder to have it removed. Jet lives happily with the other cats now although she is still a bit spooked if you approach from her blind side....

Bubbles

Bubbles

Bubbles came to us as a tiny kitten with his mum and siblings.  He was quite a shy kitten and never found a suitable home so he was introduced to the Romney House family.  After just a little while he became a lot more confident and is now quite happy to be stroked...

Mimo

Mimo

Mimo did in fact not come from Italy, even though he has an Italian name.  He arrived with two other very young kittens of 10 days old. Close to death after their mother had been run over.  The owners had been trying to keep them alive by hand rearing them, but they...

Squiggle

Squiggle

This is little Squiggle a very active confident kitten. Unfortunately when she was born the umbilical cord was tightly wrapped around her paw. It stopped the circulation of blood to her little paw which meant that she lost it very early on. She needed a safe place to...
