Joules

In the countryside in Kent in a busy country lane.  All of a sudden a large black cat comes hurtling from the hedge, into the road – and Joules gets hit!  Followed by a second car, that also hits him!  The third car managed to stop.  Although very injured, he managed to drag himself back into the hedge.  The third car happened to be a Romney House supporter; he followed Joules and managed to get him.  By this point, the cat was terrified and bit the supporter very badly!!

After some time Joules was in the car, and we got an urgent call to tell us what had happened.  He was rushed to the vets with severe back end injuries, and needed pins to be put in one back leg.

Against all the odds, Joules – once an unneutered feral boy – has become our mascot.  Handsome, friendly, cuddly boy!

Cliff

Cliff came from a very crowded multi-cat household of unneutered cats, all scared of everybody and everything!  Cliff in particular was nervous, the most affected by his past home!  After some months, we felt it was kinder for Cliff to be released to live on our outdoor environment.  He seemed happy living out until one day we noticed a very swollen leg.  It was very difficult to catch him, but eventually we did!  The vet explained it was a bone infection that could only be treated with constant medication.  Consequently his leg swelled up again, and was too painful for him.  The only answer was to remove the limb, as the problem would just get worse.  Cliff moved into the house with the Romney House residents.

He has become a very friendly, loving cat who adores cuddles!  Very talkative, but does find not having a front leg a problem.

Bluey came in to Romney House as a small kitten with his feral mother.  Unfortunately she taught him to be scared of humans.  Mum was released and Bluey came into the house to live with a few other cats sharing a bedroom to see if he could become friendly.  He started playing and responding to just one person, jumping up and down from the bed.  It has taken 5 months but he now mixes with the other cats round the house.

Montina

Looking at this lovely girl you really would not realise what a hard start in life she had.  First its worth noting that she is totally deaf which is not uncommom for white cats.  Montina is actually an Italian rescue cat.  She was rescued by Silvana when she was only 6 months old and bought to the UK as she really would not have survived as a feral.  She is yet another cat who was pretty much snatched from the jaws of death.  Montina had got herself stranded in the middle of a roundabout in Alghero and became more and more scared of the traffic she could see but not hear.  Finally she ran out accross the traffic....straight in front on Silvana who was riding a scooter.  Silvana then spent 2 hours trying to catch her before finally she was captured and transported (by scooter) to the safe haven of the villa.  There she was looked after, fed and vet checked before eventually ending up at Romney House.
