Summer

Summer was living amongst 23 other cats from a multi cat household.  They were all kept in an outbuilding in the damp and cold. They were all interbreeding! When Summer first came to us, she went into a cat house with three of her siblings. She went crazy with being closed in, screaming and clawing.  She clawed so much at the window frame to get out, that she managed to open it and escaped.  We did not see her for several weeks.  When she did come back, she seemed more laid back than she did before. She loves her little bed above the blanket wardrobe in the staff kitchen. She asks to be  given nice food several times a day.  She is happy and spoilt cat who now loves to be stroked and purrs all the time.  She isnt to keen on the other cats crowding her though.

Tammy was rescued from an awful multi cat household where she was living feral with 20 other cats. Very well meaning people but totally out of control, none neutered, hiding, cold and hungry.  Gradually they were bought to us where they needed vet treatment and care.  Many did make it to new homes with loving families but Tammy decided (with her 2 sisters) that she wanted to stay so they were released into the gang.  Month by month she started to trust us then out of the blue she jumped up on the kitchen counter and joined the other friendly ferals.  She now loves strokes and purrs all the time.  Also if you dont take enough notice of her she puts out her paw to get you closer!

Snow’s story is a long one and can best be found on Facebook.  He was rescued in Italy after being found in a terrible state.  He had some nasty wounds and being a white cat in a hot country had very bad cancerous ears which had become infected.  He had to have his ears removed and he spent a long time with the vets in Italy getting better.  When he was well enough some money was raised to bring him to the UK where he spent more time recuperating in our cat houses.  We had hoped to find him a home but he settled in so well and has now taken over the central section of house 1 as his personal cat tree and area.  He likes being inside but will be found strolling the grounds most days.  But such a TRANSFORMATION.  Gone is the dirty bruised cat and in his place is a gleaming white fluff ball.  Plus he LOVES people and strokes!

One of four very poorly little white kittens from a multi-cat household, close to death with cat flu – enteritis – infected eyes.  This little bunch so very poorly!  They slowly regained their strength after lots of care and attention, medicstion.

It took one year to get them into shape, but all happy and healthy now.  Poor Ziggy, after getting back into great shape, decided at two years old to climb the biggest tree in the garden and slip on the moss, tumbling down and hitting a cat play centre on the way down!  He lay there unable to move for some time.  Eventually we wondered why he didn’t get up for lunch – usually he would run at the sound of a pouch opening!  The most worrying four days were ahead, when we found he couldn’t stand.  He had daily visits to the vets, manipulation and massage; slowly, he started to stand!  Slowly, slowly!  The relief was overwhelming.

Ziggy is back to his normal self, but doesn’t climb trees and has to be lifted to high places, e.g. the bed for cuddles.
