.....(past) Appeal News

Due to overwhelming support & generous donations, Romney House has been able to appeal against this closure notice. Professionals voluntarily looked over all the evidence & correspondences from the council, and it seems we have a very strong case.

We are a small charity & despite a combination of fund raising events, full time jobs & donations, it is always a struggle to cover the cost for the unfortunate cats coming into our care. There is certainly no money left over for us to lodge an appeal.

We have reached our target, but please consider making a contribution of even just £1 to our appeal, anything not used in fighting the closure notice will directly benefit animals.

We have given them a positive christmas message, now we must plan for the future too!

The councils administration fees alone for the appeal, come to £900 for contesting each notice! However it seems we have no choice now that the papers have been served!

We are very grateful to an experienced company based in Orpington - Robinson Escott Planning - whom have had success in this area in the past, as they have offered their services for the cause of our charity, at a greatly reduced fee.

We estimate that council, legal & disbursement fees will come to around £5000 to £6000 to get Romney House through the court appeal. Anything above & beyond this goal or that is not spent on fighting the closure notice, would directly benefit the cats in our care & future cats. If tragedy hits & we are forced to close, any funds left over will be distributed to other animal rescues.

If you would like to do more to save our centre & help the cats currently in our care & also thousands of cats in the future... please click on our paypal link & donate £1 or anything you can.

On the "review your donation" screen there is an "optional comments" box. Please write "Appeal Fund" in this box so we can see and keep you informed of the appeal total.

If you would prefer to make a donation with a cheque, please make it payable to "Romney House Cat Rescue (appeal)".

Thank you everyone for your support.

Our Rescue charity is struggling for survival, but we are so pleasantly surprised to have been overwhelmed by the local and the wider public response - Thank you!

Our petition reached its initial goal of 1000 after only a week of going live, signatures beyond that target just go to show how we all feel about this!

We have over 3440- signatures and still counting! (far beyond our hoped for target :)

Romney House was visited by Tim Bloomfield from the Bromley Town council planning dept on 25/10/10. The charity has been advised once again, to apply for a certificate of lawfulness prior to the appeal hearing.

We have contacted our area MP & hope that our plea is noticed, heard and acted upon.

Thank you for all your letters support and suggestions, we do take notice of your kind comments.

Our fingers are crossed!
